Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this role is to operate a 40” six color plus coater sheetfed press with conventional and UV capabilities to meet or exceed customer expectations with regard to quality, cost and timely delivery. This is a production job requiring the Operator to stand for 8, and sometimes up to 12, hours a day. The position requires the Operator to be detail orientated and have a strong mechanical aptitude. 


Duties, Responsibilities & Abilities:

  • Insure efficient and cost effective operation of press:
    • Interpret and follow direction from a work ticket
      • Interpret layouts and ticket information
      • Check that correct paper is issued and the correct count
    • Direct press make ready and set up
      • Determine best sequence of colors
      • Check work against layouts, proofs and ticket information
    • Achieve and monitor color for consistency, pull time stamps
    • Assist in wash up between jobs
    • Fill out necessary paper work and records (check list, maintenance log, ticket counts, etc.)
    • Monitor product quality
    • Train press crew
    • Trouble shoot and perform adjustments and repairs as needed
    • Insure all press and company procedures are followed
  • Assist in the general up keep of the press and department:
    • Install, clean and adjust rollers
    • Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of the press and surrounding area
    • Keep area free from pallets, skid and skid tops
    • Remove waste paper, ink and solvents
  • Willingness and ability to work third shift, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday-Friday

Skills, Educational & Physical Requirements:

  • Prior commercial print shop experience with Komori presses
  • High School education or equivalent professional experience
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production environment
  • Ability to work well with co-workers in a team environment
  • Ability to operate computer based technology
  • Constant standing and/or walking
  • Manual dexterity
  • Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend steps
  • Occasionally squat or kneel
  • Occasionally bend
